Run Free, Play Safe, Unleashed

Barkin’ for a Park was born from a notion that as social creatures, dogs need a healthy dose of outdoor activity in an environment where they can run free, play safe, unleashed.

Founder Chuck Smith began working with the City of Stuart in 2012 on a piece of property to be used as an off-leash dog park open to the public, free to use from sunrise to sunset, and from that, the first park was created and opened at Poppleton Creek. Thereafter, a second park was opened at Haney Creek.

As a non-profit organization, Barkin’ for a Park relies on assistance from the community to aid in fulfilling our mission. We are always in need of volunteers to help maintain the parks, participate in events, and assist with fundraising efforts, like our current Annual Golfin’ for the Dogs event.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds from this go directly towards the expansion, maintenance, and addition of amenities for these parks, with our next goal being to open an off-leash dog park in Palm City!

Both locations offer fenced-in areas allowing well behaved canines to play and socialize off leash, all while providing restroom facilities, ample parking, and picnic tables under gazebos for their owners. Help us in keeping these parks safe and clean.
